Dear Parents and Colleagues, Prospective Clients:
Due to the success of the Eaton Arrowsmith School in Vancouver, B.C., it is with great excitement that we announce the creation of the Eaton Arrowsmith School – Victoria – site opening September 2009. This is an exciting opportunity to provide the Arrowsmith Program to the children and young adult community of Southern Vancouver Island.
Eaton Arrowsmith School (EAS) Vancouver is currently in its third year of operation. The staff and parents are observing cognitive and achievement changes that are significant. At the end of the 2007-2008 school year EAS Vancouver will graduate over 40 students after completing their third and final year of the program. These students will re-enter the public and private school systems with most of their cognitive weaknesses reduced. This will allow them to compete with their peers with less support and fewer accommodations for their previous learning disabilities.
The Arrowsmith Program has undergone a number of research evaluations with excellent results. The most recent research results were conducted through a grant from the Donner Canadian Foundation. The results noted that cognitive functioning was improved in students enrolled in the program over 1 to 3 years, with the most significant results after 3 years.
