Information for parents interested in enrolling their child in a public or independent school that offers the Arrowsmith Program In 1997, the Toronto Catholic District School Board became the first public school board to provide the Arrowsmith Program when it initiated a pilot project at one school that has since expanded to seven schools across Toronto. The Arrowsmith Program is now also offered at a number of independent and schools in Ontario and in independent schools in British Columbia. Please see the List of Schools for a listing of these schools with their addresses and telephone numbers as well as links to their web sites. The Arrowsmith Program at these schools is provided under a license agreement that establishes standards for the delivery of the Arrowsmith Program. Each of these schools operates independently of Arrowsmith School in Toronto and provides classroom space, equipment and teaching staff who have been trained in the Arrowsmith Program methodology. The Arrowsmith Program sites offer the same program of brain exercises that are offered at Arrowsmith School in Toronto. Students with identified learning disabilities who have been accepted for enrolment at these schools receive three to four days of initial testing and assessment that is carried out under the supervision of Arrowsmith staff in conjunction with the staff of the program site. The results of the testing are analyzed by Arrowsmith staff who design the individual programs of brain exercises. Each Arrowsmith Program site provides the same brain exercise programs and materials that are used at Arrowsmith School in Toronto. The Arrowsmith Program Co-ordinator responsible for each program site monitors the program delivery including reviewing the monthly on-line Record of Treatment that is completed by the Arrowsmith classroom teacher for each student in the program and also visits the program sites during the year. Information for Educators Interested in the Arrowsmith Program The Arrowsmith School in Toronto believe that the most effective way to make the Arrowsmith Program available is through schools in the public and separate school system and established independent schools. The Arrowsmith School in Toronto invites enquiries from educators in the public and private sectors interested in learning more about the Arrowsmith Program. For further information about the Arrowsmith Program, please contact us at info@arrowsmithprogram.ca Arrowsmith Program Teacher Training The experience at Arrowsmith School in Toronto has shown that in addition to careful and complete initial testing and assessment and the design of the individual programs of exercises for each student based on the testing, the Arrowsmith Program brain exercises need to be supervised by trained and committed teachers.
